Geert van der Meulen’s ‘New Netherlands’ design study, speculating on the required transitional flood risk management to anticipate to extreme future sea level rise, is featured in the exhibition ‘Plan D: Niederländische Klimaflucht nach Deutschland?’ (Plan D: Dutch Climate Refugees to Germany?).
Curated by Simon Richter (Professor of German and Dutch Studies at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA), at the invitation of Zentrum für Niederlande-Studien, the exhibition displays more designs and visions by Dutch architects, artists, and scholars to stimulate conversation and policy with regard to adaptation and mitigation. Showcased in the historic Haus der Niederlande, where the Peace of Münster was signed which ended the 80 Years War and recognized the Dutch Republic, the exhibition is accompanied by an elaborate program of lectures, workshops, and discussions and runs from 26 May 2023 to 13 July 2023.
