Sahar Asadollahi Asl Zarkhah

Sahar Asadollahi Asl Zarkhah is a PhD candidate in the Section of Urban Design of the Department of Urbanism at TU Delft.

Her doctoral research focuses on the role of public space in fostering community resilience , with Rotterdam as her primary case city. With a background in architecture and interior architecture, she explores the complex relationship between community life and urban spaces at different scales. By understanding people’s perceptions and experiences, her work uncovers the socio-spatial dynamics that enable communities to adapt, connect, and thrive.

In recent years, Sahar has also been investigating the role of soundscapes in public spaces and their impact on communities. She is currently co-coordinating NOISE Lab Rotterdam, a project that examines the interactions between port noise, the built environment, and public health.

Driven by her interests in public space, public and urban interiors, environmental psychology, socio-cultural studies and urban design her research bridges multiple disciplines to deepen our understanding of urban environments, design interventions, and their influence on human experiences.
